Hi, I’m Holly!
I’m on a mission to help people find creative experiences and rediscover the joy of making. I truly believe that everyone has a creative spark. Sometimes, you just need the right workshop to light the fire.
For a long time, I felt like so many of us (myself included) were spending too much time behind screens and not enough time actually creating. I started ‘Holly Makes’ as a passion project to change that. My goal is simple - teaching people how to be creative by showing them that anyone can do it, regardless of their background or ‘talent’.
Each month I will be doing a new make. Revealing it as ‘Holly Makes…’
The Journey So Far
I’m travelling the world taking part in creative courses, documenting the process and teaching people how to tap into their own creativity along the way. From heritage crafts in the British countryside to unique workshops abroad, I aim to inspire you to get making. Whether it’s getting your hands dirty or learning the patience of working with new materials, I'm here to show you how rewarding it can be to step away from the screen and into the workshop.
It’s not just about the finished product (although walking away with a hand-forged axe is pretty cool!), it’s about the memories made, the skills learned, and that incredible feeling of focus you only get when you’re deep in a craft.
Why I Do This
I believe that creative experiences are the ultimate gift, for yourself or for someone you love. They are a way to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect. Through my blog, social media, and Pinterest, I want to bridge the gap between "I wish I could do that" and "Look what I just made!".
Maybe it’s the start of a lifelong passion, or simply a new creative outlet that offers a moment of escape. I believe that making memories is just as important as the end product itself.
