How I Started by Small Business

I’ve always known that I wanted to have my own small business. Being creative is something that’s just part of me. I was reading so many books, listening to podcasts, watching Youtube videos and absorbing all the information I could. But it never felt like the right time.

There is no right time

Somewhere along the way, I heard something about just getting started. I think the literal words were “Just do it”. Which is something I’m doing right now as I type this. I’ve been wanting to start up my blog again for a while (not that it ever really took off - I’m not sure one and a half blog posts really counts!). So this is me, just doing it!

Best bit of advice

That really is the best bit of advice. Just Do It. The things you’ve been putting off, the way your worrying about it, it all matters so much less than you think. So my best bit of advice is to just do it! Make the thing. Share that first picture. Make the video. (Uploading a youtube video as we speak - scary!). Check it out here.

Where it all began

That is how I started. I realised that I was never going to be able to learn it all and make it perfect before I started, the best thing is to get started & learn along the way. And do you know what, some of my biggest fans are the ones who have been here since the start and followed my journey, seen me grow through the ups and downs (if you’re a top fan, drop a hello below!).

“everyone has to start somewhere, why not now”

What’s the thing you’ve always been dreaming of? What’s your small business idea? The little niggle at the back of your head that reminds you of what you love. Drop a comment below and we can support each other. Share your wins on how you got started. The first thing I did? Bought some resin, made an Instagram account, posted my first photo. It all starts somewhere. Why not you? Why not now?

Learning along the way. Me and my resin art in the beginning years of building my business, Tides of Teal.
